I remember being younger and hearing all this stuff about how hip hop music taught kids to be violent and to disrespect women. I never got it but one thing I do get is that if you listen to it constantly enough, for enough time it will definitely influence you. Maybe the way you talk, maybe the way you dress, maybe how you look at the world. I know one way that hip hop has influenced me is that it always motivates me to want to be the best (or at least really good lol). No, competition is not inherent, it is learned. Not sure where I learned it but I know hip hop adds to it. There is no second in hip hop for better or for worse.
