As soon as I saw this video, I just knew I had to post it. Growing up in The Bronx, I grew up around latinos and I saw this all the time. People telling people that they could not be both latino and black. Although, most people would say that has nothing to do with me seeing as I’m not latino (which it actually does BUT that’s a whollllleeeeeeee ‘nother long post) it always bothered me. I just never understood how people dared to tell other people what they were and what they could identify as because the way a person looks or acts is not what they are used to. I hope anyone reading this who has done this looks within themselves and tries to understand why someone else’s identity is so important to them. And I hope anyone who has gone through that finds the strength to define themselves no matter how much other people try to define them…
